Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) will enhance demographic dividend across the country. GSDP aims to provide green skills training to 80,000 people and to fill the skill gaps in environment and forest sector. Central government has also launched a GSDP-ENVIS mobile app for GSDP. GSDP will provide employment to 2.25 lakh people in the next year while this number will go up to 5 lakh people by FY 2021.
Skill India Programme will provide training to youths who are responsible to conserve and protect the environment. Under this scheme, govt. has already identified more than 30 programmes to be conducted in 84 institutions. GSDP will provide skill development training to youths especially dropouts of 10th and 12th class and thus will increase the availability of skilled workforce.
GSDP is a major step towards development of skill sets along with employability linkage. Govt. will modify and strengthen GSDP from time to time and is one of the key priority of the govt. Around 31% of the total children getting skill training are actually dropouts from school.

Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) will provide skill development training in the environment and forest sector to enable them to gain employment or self-employment. Ministry will accomplish this task by using its vast network and Environmental Information System (ENVIS) hubs along with Resource Partners (RPs). This application will also provide information on the centres offering GSDP courses. GSDP will develop workforce of green skilled workers who possess high technical knowledge and are committed towards the goal of sustainable development. GSDP will also help in attaining Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), National Biodiversity Targets (NBTs) and Waste Management Rules (2016).
List of GSDP Courses
Central govt. will conduct more than 30 skill development programmes during FY 2018-19. All these courses will be complaint with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF). The duration of courses will be around 80 hours to 560 hours. All the skill development programs will cover diverse fields, some of which are shown below in the table:-

In the 1st phase, govt. will create a pool of Master Trainers / Specialists who will further provide training to the youths. Even the ministry will provide the skill development training certification after the successful completion of training and after the final report submission.
