Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin beneficiaries list would now be shared with Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas for stronger implementation of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The PMAY-G beneficiaries would be eligible for getting a free LPG connection under the Ujjwala Yojana. The Ministry of Rural Housing will share the PMAY-G beneficiary list on fortnight basis with the Petroleum Ministry.
The central government has issued guidelines related to the safety of utilization of the LPG in homes. Thus, instructed to state governments and UT’s involved in implementation of PMAY-G to build a slab in the kitchen as per the safety standards. As per the safety guidelines, it is essential to have the stove at least 1 meter above the ground on the slab. The recommended dimensions of the slab are 86 cms (length) and 55 cms (width).
The state governments has been requested to construct the slab as per the given specifications so that the LPG can be utilized safely.
All the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin would be issued free LPG connections under the PMUY. The central government has a target to distribute 5 Crore LPG connections to the BPL families under the Ujjwala Yojana. While the target to build homes under the PMAY-G is 3 Crore.
The government has already distributed over 1.5 Crore LPG connections to BPL families across the nation within first year of scheme launch.
